MyDrives vs. Personal User Guide: motivation or work preferences?

Compare MyDrives and Personal User Guide on their models, team use, development, costs and responsible interpretation.

Choose MyDrives to explore motivation and connect it with development. Choose Personal User Guide to translate Big Five work preferences into a personal manual and agreements between colleagues. Both can support a team conversation. Your choice depends on the question you want to answer, the support you need and how you use the results after the initial assessment.

Two colleagues receive the same assignment. One wants to discuss its purpose; the other immediately asks for a schedule. This could reflect motivation or work preferences. Perhaps the assignment was simply unclear. A profile becomes useful when you explore these possibilities together.

I created Personal User Guide, so this comparison has an interested perspective. Public product information was checked on 3 October 2026. We conducted no comparative experiment. The recommendations interpret the documented applications.

Seven colours are not seven kinds of people

MyDrives describes combinations of seven colours, including preference, opposition and energy balance. Its comparison page identifies Clare Graves as the foundation. MyDrives and Management Drives are different methods; their names are not interchangeable.

Personal User Guide uses five continuous personality scales. The guide translates them into conversations about change, planning, contact, interests and pressure. Positions start a discussion; they do not assign fixed roles.

You cannot reliably convert a colour into a Big Five score. Shared vocabulary about structure does not make questions or scoring equivalent. Complete each assessment separately if you want to explore both perspectives.

From insight to behaviour

The MyDrives offering extends beyond a colour report, with MyHabits for development and MyMatch for selection. Ask which products your proposal includes. Availability within the offering does not mean every participant automatically receives access.

Personal User Guide supports recurring conversations through personal and team guides. Gap view helps two colleagues discuss their preferences side by side. It is not a compatibility score.

A meeting drains energy

A colleague disengages during long meetings. First ask what happens: is a decision missing, does discussion take too long, or does someone feel unheard? MyDrives offers a motivation perspective. Personal User Guide helps discuss useful preparation and meeting preferences.

An observable agreement could be to share the decision question beforehand, begin with five minutes of individual preparation and finish with one decision and an owner. After two weeks, ask whether everyone can contribute more effectively. This is an illustrative example, not a measured product effect.

A new colleague joins

A profile does not replace good onboarding. Discuss what someone needs to take over work, when questions are welcome and how feedback happens. Invite examples and exceptions. An abstract insight then becomes an agreement you can adjust.

What does the evidence establish?

A recognisable report, reliable scores and better collaboration are different outcomes. Ask both providers about the version, sample and application studied. The reviewed product pages provide no direct comparative study of these two products. This does not establish that research is absent; it limits this article's conclusions.

The Big Five foundation does not automatically validate our questionnaire, translations or advice either. User counts also do not prove quality. Set a concrete goal, such as fewer unclear handovers, then assess the agreement produced by the conversation.

Costs and access

MyDrives offers a free miniscan. Treat it as an introduction; ask separately about the full assessment, debriefing, team support and follow-up access. I could not establish a uniform total team price from the reviewed pages.

Personal User Guide starts free. Standard team packages cost €890 for 10, €1,975 for 25 and €3,450 for 50 seats, excluding VAT, without expiry. Text transformations use separate credits. External coaching is not included in these platform prices.

Compare the same number of participants, support and period of use. Ask what adding a colleague later costs.

Privacy and selection

Agree who can see profiles, how long access lasts and how participants can correct interpretations. Review our privacy information and sharing settings; ask MyDrives the same questions for your chosen application.

Use profiles as conversation input. Do not infer suitability solely from colours or scale positions. Combine selection conversations with relevant experience and a work sample. Exports also need their own access and retention arrangements.

Which route fits?

Start with MyDrives when your development question centres on motivation and you want its offered support. Start with Personal User Guide to document work preferences and regularly discuss differences with colleagues. If you already have a useful profile, first improve one concrete agreement with it. Another assessment makes sense when it answers a missing question.

Frequently asked questions

Is MyDrives the same as Management Drives?

No. They are different providers and methods. MyDrives describes seven drives; treat their results separately.

Are you one colour in MyDrives?

No. Discuss the combination and context instead of labelling the whole person.

Can colours be converted into Big Five scores?

This comparison provides no validated conversion. Similar words do not imply equivalent scores.

Is MyDrives only a report?

No. Follow-up products are available. Ask which your programme includes.

Which product costs less?

It depends on access and support. Compare a complete quote for the same application and participant count.

Which product works better?

We conducted no comparative outcome study. Assess whether the conversation produces a useful agreement and evaluate it in practice.
